#Tryon Scarfs - The Longest New Year's Resolution I Ever Kept

Hi, guys; this is Connie!

If you have somehow found your way to this #tryonscarfs blog, THANK YOU!  It means that I'm not the only one who loves scarves and enjoys a good story involving scarf or two.

So... How did this whole thing begin?

"a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."

To the best of my knowledge, it began with my dear, sweet, loving husband; trying to help me de-clutter. I don't remember the exact conversation, but it went something like this:

Mustachio: "You have a lot of scarves."

Me: "uh huh... I guess I do."

Mustachio: "I don't see you wearing them that often."

Me: "oh."

Mustachio: "If you don't use them, why don't we get rid of them?"

At this point I'm not quick-witted or clever enough to explain that I find sentimental value in all of my things, scarves included, and have never had a desire to let go of anything very quickly.

This included my scarves too. It was at this moment I was tasked to find some good use for my collection, or prepare myself to say goodbye.

Me: "I'd rather not... I'll figure something out."

Eventually, I decided to make a New Year's Resolution (of sorts) out of it. I would take a selfie of me in a scarf everyday for a year. I was already enjoying the various forms of social media; I had a Twitter account, a wide array of Facebook friends and had recently been introduced the the world of Instagram.

I tossed the idea around for a couple of months before that new year and once I realized how many scarves I actually owned, knew that this was going to be fun.

According to Siri (because you can ask her crazy things like that) this post from October 10, 2012 was my first entry of  #tryonscarfs2013

How did I come up with the Hashtag?

My new last name (Mustachio & I got married in June of 2012) was Tryon "Like try-on the clothes."

I was not corrected on the misspelling of "scarves" until the following March; so I kept "scarfs" because ignorance rules! (not really but in this case, sure)

and the goal was to go for the entire year of 2013, so this would at least be good for 365 entries!

Thus, #tryonscarfs2013 was born!

It's after midnight and I'm about to head-bang into the keyboard... I hope this is a decent first post for a blog. I've never been very good at typing/writing things...so, go easy on me blogging-pro-type-people and give me some helpful hints on how to make this more enjoyable to anyone willing to read this.
